Chumoukedima, Nagaland, March 26 (HBTV): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president and the Congress party’s candidate for the Lok Sabha seat, Supongmeren Jamir, said he was contesting the election to ‘deliver Naga people from injustice and inequality.’

He was standing against the erosion of secularism in the country under the right-wing Hindu nationalist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party, and to uphold the ideals of secularism.

With the blessings of the All India Congress Committee, Jamir said, He has accepted the responsibility to go ahead to represent and be the voice of congress.

On framework agreement between the government of India and the NSCN-IM, Jamir said if the present government is serious enough, they should not take such a long time.

It is not only the negligence of the government of India, but also a lack from the state government, he said. He claimed that the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government is giving a false commitment to the people of the state.

Further, Jamir said the Congress is serious about the Naga political issue as well as the eastern Nagaland question.

“We won’t take time like the PDA where the 60 MLAs are there to fight for the Nagas and being the facilitator but they have done the good job in terms of the government of India’s wish but not as per the interest of the Nagas,” he said.
